Cashflow forecasting
Updated 21 July 2026
Using the Cashflow View
The Cashflow page gives you a rolling 14-day picture of money coming in versus money going out — helping you spot tight spots before they become problems. It's useful for any caterer who wants to stay ahead of gaps between when payments are due and when costs land.
Getting There
Navigate to Money → Cashflow. The page loads immediately with your next 14 days of forecast data.
Reading the KPI Cards
Four summary cards sit at the top of the page:
- Money in — total expected inflows across the 14-day window (invoices coming due, accepted-quote balances, unpaid orders)
- Money out — total projected outflows (payables and supplier costs)
- Net (14d) — the difference between the two, shown in green if positive or red if negative
- Projected balance — your estimated closing cash position at the end of the window, if you've set an opening balance (shows Not set if you haven't)
Setting Your Opening Balance
To unlock the Projected balance card and the Balance column in the day-by-day table, enter your current cash on hand using the Opening balance control in the top-right corner of the page. Once set, a running daily balance appears alongside each row.
Spotting a Shortfall
If your projected cash dips below zero at any point in the window, a red warning banner appears below the KPI cards. It tells you the exact date and the lowest balance — giving you time to chase a payment or defer a cost before you hit that date.
The Day-by-Day Table
Scroll down past the chart to see a row for each of the 14 days, showing:
- In — inflows expected that day
- Out — outflows expected that day
- Net — daily difference (green for positive, red for negative)
- Balance — running cash position (only visible once an opening balance is set)
Days with no movements show dashes and are dimmed.
What the Forecast Includes
Invoices coming due, accepted-quote balances, scheduled unpaid orders, and projected supplier costs. Wages are not yet included.
> Tip: If the chart shows no data, raise a quote or mark an invoice as due — both will appear in the forecast straight away.
