Choosing a Menu for an Event

When creating an event in CaterCloud, the Menu section lets you attach specific dishes to the booking so the right items — and any dietary considerations — flow through to your quotes and cost calculations. This is for anyone building a new event who needs to lock in what's being served.

Opening the Menu Section

When you create a new event, scroll down to the Menu section inside the event creation drawer. The items shown are automatically filtered to match the event's trading type (catering or retail) and the primary operation you've selected, so you'll only see menus that are relevant to this booking.

Selecting a Menu and Adding Items

1. If you have more than one menu available, use the menu selector to switch between them.
2. Items are grouped by category. Scroll through the list and tick an item to add it to the event.
3. Once an item is selected, use the + and − buttons to adjust the quantity.
4. To remove an item, tick it again or use the × control.

Adding Custom Lines

If you need to include something that isn't in your saved menus:

• Type a name into the custom item field and confirm it to add a one-off line to the event.
• Custom lines support a quantity in the same way as regular menu items.

How Dietary Flags Carry Through

Dietary information tied to menu items in your Menu Management settings travels with each selection. When items are attached to an event, those flags are available for the running-cost engine and are visible when reviewing the event, helping your team prepare accurately without needing to re-enter allergen or dietary information manually.

Saving Your Selections

Menu selections are held in the drawer while you build the event and are saved to the booking once the event is created. You can review and update them from the event record afterwards.
