Kitchen Display (KDS)

The Kitchen Display gives your kitchen crew a dedicated, always-on view of live orders — optimised for bright kitchens, large screens, and fast-paced service. It auto-refreshes so the team never needs to touch a back-office screen.

Getting to the Kitchen Display

Navigate to Orders → Kitchen Display. The screen takes over the full browser window and is best used on a wall-mounted monitor, iPad, or any landscape-oriented display.

What You See

  • A live clock in the header keeps everyone on the same time.
  • An active count shows how many orders are currently in the kitchen.
  • Each ticket card shows the order code, customer name, order type, scheduled time, items, quantities, modifiers, and any item notes.
  • A due label on each card counts down to the scheduled time and changes colour as the deadline approaches:
  • Normal (plenty of time) → amber hint (soon, under 60 min) → loud amber (urgent, under 15 min) → red (overdue).

Keeping the Screen Fresh

The display refreshes automatically every 15 seconds and also updates within about 1 second whenever an order changes elsewhere in CaterCloud. You can force an immediate refresh by tapping the Refresh orders button (the circular arrow) in the header.

Advancing an Order

Tap the action button on any ticket card to move it to the next stage (for example, from *Confirmed* to *In Progress*, or *In Progress* to *Ready*). The card moves or disappears from the lane instantly. If the update fails, the card flashes red — tap it again or use the Refresh orders button to re-sync.

Useful Header Controls

  • Fullscreen (the expand/contract icon) — removes browser chrome for a cleaner kiosk view.
  • Filter by location — if your account has multiple operations, a dropdown lets you show only tickets for one location. Your choice is remembered between sessions.
  • Exit — returns you to the main Orders list.

> Tip: Mount the KDS on a dedicated device and tap Fullscreen at the start of each service — the screen will stay awake automatically so orders never disappear mid-shift.
