Location & Timezone Settings
CaterCloud uses your home base address to power the Map view, calculate event distances, and automatically set your account timezone. This guide is for any catering business owner or admin who wants to configure where their operation is based.
How to get there
Navigate to Settings → Location.
---
Setting your home base address
- Under the Home base card, click into the Address field and start typing your street address.
- Select the correct address from the autocomplete suggestions — CaterCloud will pre-fill the Suburb/City, State/Region, and Postcode fields automatically.
- Review those fields and adjust if needed.
- Click Save changes.
After saving, CaterCloud geocodes your address in the background (usually within a few seconds). You'll see a Geocoded badge appear next to the address field once it's confirmed. If the address can't be resolved, a Not found badge will show instead — try a more specific address.
How timezone is set
You don't set your timezone manually. When you save your address, CaterCloud automatically derives your timezone from your state or region. A confirmation message will appear below the address fields — for example:
> *Timezone auto-set to Australia/Melbourne based on your state.*
This timezone is used across all bookings, quotes, and scheduled communications so that dates and times display correctly for your location.
Configuring distance defaults
Under the Distance defaults card, you can control two values:
- Default map radius — how far out the Map view shows events by default (in km).
- Warn when event is further than — events beyond this distance will display a warning flag on their cards.
These settings help you quickly spot bookings that may require extra travel planning.
Google review link
Paste your Google Place review URL into the Google review link field under the Google reviews card. CaterCloud will include it automatically in post-event review request emails and SMS messages.

> Tip: Once your address is geocoded, open the Map view (Events → Map) to see all your upcoming bookings plotted with distance and travel time from your home base.
