P&L — profit and loss tracking

Updated 21 July 2026

Profit & Loss (P&L)

The P&L page gives you a clear view of how profitable your events are, broken down by revenue, costs, and margin. It's useful for anyone in your business who needs to track financial performance across jobs — whether that's weekly, monthly, or per event.

Getting to P&L

Go to Money → P&L to open the page. You'll see a table listing your events with financial data for each row.

Filtering Your Results

Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow down what you're looking at:

  • Date range — show events within a specific period
  • Event — drill into a single booking
  • Event type — compare performance across categories like corporate, weddings, or food truck jobs

Reading the Table

Each row in the table represents one event and shows:

  • Revenue — the total amount charged to the client
  • Costs — broken down into Food, Labour, Equipment, and Travel
  • Gross Profit — revenue minus total costs
  • Margin % — gross profit as a percentage of revenue

Cost figures are pulled automatically from the Costs tab on each event record. Make sure costs are entered there to keep your P&L accurate.

Summary Row

The bottom of the table includes a summary row showing your total revenue, total costs, and overall margin across all filtered events — handy for a quick snapshot of a period.

Margin Highlighting

If you've set a target margin, rows will be colour-coded red, amber, or green to show whether each event hit your goal. To set your target, go to Settings → Events and update the margin target field.

Exporting Your Data

Click Export to CSV to download the current view — useful for sharing with your accountant or importing into a spreadsheet.

> Tip: Keep your event costs up to date as jobs progress so your P&L reflects real numbers, not estimates.
